Tea which has many names: donf fang mei ren, formosa oolong, champagne oolong, bai hao oolong, white tip oolong, oriental beauty, eastern beauty, pong fong tea, bai mao hou.

This particular tea comes from Emei Township and is made from the Jin Xuan cultivar and pressed into 100g cakes. It is hand harvested at an altitude of around 300m in May 2021.

The tea is oxidised to 70-80% and in this form has a good chance of interesting maturation.

It offers a very aromatic amber infusion with a fruity honey aroma.

Unusually for an Oriental beauty, the flavour of this tea is full-bodied and distinctive with a balanced malty and mineral fruit flavour with a light representation of a musky 'bug-bitten' taste. It is not as floral in flavour as the leafy, unmoulded forms of Oriental beauty. The tea is indeed considerably stronger than is usual with Orintal Beauty, which I welcomed with pleasure. Probably the most powerful beauty I've tasted yet.

 

Brewing: 100ml, 5-6g, 95°C, 30-50s for the first infusion, second infusion within 30s, then extend according to taste preference. Lasts more than 5 infusions.
